How do ultrasounds and X-rays work?
X-rays use radiation to create images. Digital X-rays generate images faster than traditional ones and makes it easier to transfer files to a specialist if needed. X-rays are completely pain-free for your pet. They are used to examine abnormalities and allow us to see the size and shape of organs and structures. Ultrasounds provide a precise picture of internal organs, which is why veterinarians use it to examine soft tissue. A wand is moved over the area of interest and it emits sound waves which echo and display the internal organs. Both procedures require a trained individual to interpret the images from the results. Are X-rays safe for my pet?
The light rays from this procedure are safe for your pet. To ensure they are kept safe we provide protective gear for them. Our hospital uses digital X-rays which use even less radiation. Even after multiple X-rays it is unlikely that your pet may develop any illness from the radiation.
